Koolewong to Wondabyne (45km)
About this event
A lovely walk through Brisbane Waters NP. It starts with a steep climb and a bit of scrambling, and then follows through the mountains and crossing some roads. We may need to do a bit of bush bashing so as to avoid the Scout Camp (I spoke to the organiser and there will be kids there so we can’t walk through, even though this would be the obvious way to go) But once we are through these obstacles it will feel like endless forests, walking by the river and mangroves initially and through many a ferny brook:) Most of this walk will follow the great north walk Travel Arrangement: Please make sure you are on the last carriage and let’s all find each other from around Hornsby so we know we have everyone. Preparations: Bring plenty of water, wear sensible walking shoes, a hat & sun screen. Will need head lamps as will be dark when we finish. There are multiple points to get water refills, but purification tablets recommended. Distance: 45km Elevation: 1,200m Pace: 4 – 4.5km p/h Terrain: Hilly/Mountainous Early exits: No early exits Getting there: 5.48 train from Central, platform 6 (Goes to Gosford) NB: We will need to catch the train at 6.45pm as it’s the last train from Wondabyne on Saturday!
