K2K – 2 Day (elev 2700m, OffTrack +river crossing, Very Hard)
About this event
I did this walk in one day back in April 2021. It took me over 16 hours and this was before the flooding season of summer 2022, which I assume will be more overgrown now! This is hard due to terrain and requires a fair bit of bush bash and navigation. This walk is weather dependent due to the cox river crossing. Any decent rain during the week of walk will means this walk can’t go ahead. Cox River Kelpie Point Height check: http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDN60143.html&fbclid=IwAR1LDsdFUSEsKW4ptVmHXiZyH_76OXggrqWV90hV6506ArKyyO6OM24phVA Atm its 0.39/steady which is ok. See the full map here: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/evening-hike-ab233b6–31 We’ll meet at Katoomba at around 5:30am and drive 2 hours to Kanangra Walls lookout to start. The first day, we will aim to cross the Cox River and camp at the top somewhere. I would suggest pack light if you can. For me the hardest bit was the track down to the Cox River from the Kanangra side. No gratuity required. IMPORTANT NOTES: You are responsible for looking after your own health and safety.
