The expedition
Overview
Budawang National Park is part of the Budawang Wilderness, a rugged landscape of high plateaus, sheer cliffs, and deep gullies. This challenge focuses on two prominent peaks within the park, offering panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness and the South Coast.
The Peaks
Mt Budawang
Mt Budawang (1,129m) is the highest point in the park. The trail typically follows an old fire trail that climbs steadily through eucalpyt forest and cool temperate rainforest. From the summit, a fire lookout provides spectacular 360-degree views.
Mt Currockbilly
Mt Currockbilly (1,131m) offers a more challenging ascent. The trail involves navigating through dense vegetation and rocky terrain, leading to a summit with impressive vistas across the rugged Budawang range.
